Working together to enhance the security and resilience of critical infrastructure: CHERRY contributes its expertise in secure input solutions and security hardware to the regional network.
Auerbach, October 2nd, 2026 – CHERRY SE announces its associate partnership with the N49 – European Resilience Hub. The collaboration between the international manufacturer of professional input devices and the regionally rooted network will focus on secure input solutions, security hardware, and their use in specific critical infrastructure applications. At the same time, CHERRY aims to contribute to the further development of the network.
One of CHERRY's key areas of focus, having been firmly rooted in the Upper Palatinate for many years, is hardware solutions for professional and security-critical work environments. These include, in particular, secure input devices and smart card-based solutions for companies, public institutions, and organizations with stringent requirements for availability, authentication, and the protection of sensitive access. Together with N49, CHERRY aims to develop new approaches to cybersecurity, physical security, and crisis resilience and test them under realistic conditions.
“The combination of digital security, operational resilience, and specific application scenarios makes the partnership with N49 particularly interesting for us. We want to gain an early understanding of the requirements of critical infrastructure operators and contribute our expertise in professional input hardware in a targeted way,” says Philipp Sehner, Product Manager Security at CHERRY SE.
As part of this partnership, CHERRY offers the opportunity to test security hardware and secure input solutions in realistic critical infrastructure scenarios and to further develop them together with users. Another key focus is the exchange of expertise on secure user access, authentication, and the “Point of Input” as an integral part of holistic security concepts. In addition, CHERRY aims to participate in pilot projects, demonstrations, workshops, and other network formats. By engaging with critical infrastructure operators, public authorities, research institutions, and industry partners, the goal is to identify future requirements at an early stage and develop specific use cases.
An additional focus of the collaboration is regional knowledge and technology transfer. CHERRY's proximity to Amberg and N49's strong roots in the Upper Palatinate provide ideal conditions for ongoing exchange between industry, academia, and public institutions. At the same time, the partnership is intended to help further strengthen the Upper Palatinate as a hub for security and resilience technologies.
